Anselm Reyle
Opera Gallery Bal Harbour is pleased to present a solo exhibition of mixed media works by Anselm Reyle, spanning a number of his best known bodies of work between 2008 and 2024. Traversing mediums from ceramics and relief sculptures to mixed media paintings, this exhibition shows Reyle to be an artist intent on pushing the boundaries of how we understand art and its place within a broader visual culture.
By turns, Reyles’s work references the bright and striking visual language of Pop Art, the contained chaos of Abstract Expressionism and the hard-edged austerity of Conceptualism. Often, it borrows from the aesthetics and materials of consumer culture, such as the brightly coloured reflective surfaces of his Foil Paintings.
Ultimately, this exhibition reveals Reyle as part of a post-modernist tradition that references artists such as Marcel Duchamp and Andy Warhol, encouraging a dialogue about the relationship between art, mass-production and consumerism.
